Cache’s First Pumpkin

I would say that pumpkin carving was a success at The Weir House! We may not earn the title of “most original pumpkin”, but because we victoriously managed to carve leg holes into our jack-o-lantern and squeeze our 17 pound baby inside – all with a smile – I’d say that we win “most adorable pumpkin” by a LANDSLIDE. Where’s my trophy!?

I’m an avid “holiday” person. I want to do all the cliche things that accompany every holiday scene – fireworks and red/white/blue themed food on the fourth of July; chocolates, flowers and chick flicks on Valentines Day; Christmas lights, caroling and cookie baking on Christmas; and pumpkin carving, scary movie watching, and candy eating on Halloween (to name a few).

Now that we have a baby in the picture, the holiday magic is magnified by 100. Suddenly, we all turn into kids around here! I think that’s one of the things that makes being a parent so much fun:  you begin too see the holiday through the innocent eyes of a child. It has been a treasure!

We ended up making a MESS and Cache’s pumpkin onesie was covered from head to toe, but that’s life, I suppose. A beautiful mess. And a beautiful mess it was! Happy Halloween!
